2011 - 2012 Dive Coach: Gevin Votaw
Coach Gevin began his life and love of diving at the age of five. In high school, he became a championship diver for the state of Wyoming. He had the privilege of training for six summers in Texas with Mike Brown, Matt Scoggin, Kenny and Patty Armstrong, and Anita Rossing. Additionally, he had the tremendous honor of being invited to dive with Greg Louganis. He was also a NCAA qualifier for the University of Wyoming. Unfortunately, his days of competing were cut short due to an injury.
At sixteen years old, he was taught how to coach by Mike Brown, Matt Scoggin, and Kenny Armstrong. He then began to teach diving lessons and assist with coaching his high school team. Gevin has coached USA age group diving in North Dakota, Wyoming, Pennsylvania, and Arizona. He has assisted through the masters level as well. In addition, he worked with college teams in Wyoming, Pennsylvania, and Arizona. Most recently, he returned to coach at his high school, where he has held the eleven dive record since 1991. Beyond coaching, Gevin is a Massage Therapist who loves hiking, rock climbing, and just about anything outdoors. This is Gevin?s fourth season with the CU Divers.
